Crew takes care of two large trees before lunch

Here are before and after photos from Monday’s tree cutting project in the 700 block of South Tennessee Avenue.

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- In less than three hours Monday morning, crews with La Follette Public Works and Napiers Premier Outdoor Services brought down and cleared away two large trees. These trees, upwards of 100-feet in height, once sat up snug to South Tennessee Avenue in the 700 block.

The crews made efficient work of felling the two large trees.

Traffic was detoured for a portion of Monday morning. “We’ve talked about taking these two big trees down and have it worked out,” said Casey Boshears, Director of Public Works for the City of La Follette.

The orange paint marks the trees to be cut.

The trees were in front of the former John McCloud home.

Traffic was diverted up West Hemlock Street.

Traffic going south on South Tennessee Avenue was sent up West Hemlock Street while northbound travelers headed to town were detoured by way of Loop Road. “We’ve got to keep folks safe is why we’ve shut down this block,” said Boshears.
