Texters are posing to be with the Postal Service

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- “For a while, as I read the text, I was becoming convinced that the post office was actually having trouble delivering a package to me,” said Caryville Mayor Bobby Stooksbury. The postal service logo was on the text, and it looked like the real thing, according to the mayor. “Then when it said I owed eighteen cents to get my package delivered and wanted my credit information, I was like woe, something’s wrong with this picture,” said Stooksbury.

The mayor called the Caryville Post Office and was told it was a scam and to delete the text. The mayor immediately deleted the message.

“We don’t send texts. It’s a scam. If you get such a text, delete it,” said Lisa Paysinger. Paysinger is the supervisor at the La Follette Post Office. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 07/31/2024-6AM)
