Jordan Cross appointed to fill Lawson’s vacancy on board

CARYVILLE, TN (WLAF)- Monday night, the Caryville Board of Mayor and Aldermen met and accepted the resignation of Mayor David Chambers. Chambers last day as mayor was Nov. 17.

Vice Mayor Beth Lawson moved into the position of mayor leaving her alderman seat vacant. Last night the board unanimously approved appointing Jordan Cross to fill Beth Lawson’s alderman seat.

A second reading of Ordinance No. 2025-10 amending the general fund annual operating budget for the fiscal year 2025-26 in the amount of $2,900 for Christmas bonuses and an invoice from Ray Varner Ford for $5,056.30 to repair the 2017 F-250 for the street and sanitation department were approved.

A first reading of Ordinance No. 2025-11 amending the general fund annual operating budget for the fiscal year 2025-26 in the amount of $6,000 for public works equipment repair and maintenance was approved.

The board voted to table the first reading of Ordinance No. 2025-12 amending the zoning map of the Town of Caryville by changing the zoning for property on Bruce Gap Road from R-1 low density residential to R-2 medium density residential.
