JACKSBORO, TN. (WLAF)- Details about the death at the Campbell County Jail have been released.
Faith Nicole Evans, 26, of Jacksboro was found alone and unresponsive in her cell today around 7:30am.
“There is no indication of foul play,†said Sheriff Wayne Barton. See related story HERE.
Barton, who was briefed by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, said “There were no signs of any struggle in the cell.â€
WLAF sources indicate Evans was administered Narcan, the drug used to combat an overdose. However, this was done in a “precautionary†manner as the drug has no ill side effects on someone who doesn’t need it,†according to Barton.
Cells are checked every hour unless there is a need to check more often, the sheriff said. In this case, Barton doesn’t believe there was reason for Evans to receive more than an hourly check.
When the corrections officers went to her cell, they found her unresponsive, Barton said.
The sheriff didn’t know if Evans had any ongoing medical issues and said the jail’s medical provider, Fast Access, would have that information.
Evans was arrested on April 23 by the Jacksboro Police on charges from general sessions and criminal court. She had been in custody since that time.
An autopsy is being conducted.
As in the death that occurred 10 days ago, the TBI is conducting an investigation and left the county jail with multiple sets of records.
