Barsha Lynn (Rouse) Ammons, age 91 of the Halls Community, Knoxville, formerly of LaFollette, passed away on Monday, September 15, 2025. Barsha was a 1952 graduate of LaFollette High School and continued her studies at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City. She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of LaFollette, was formerly employed with Peoples National Bank, now Peoples Bank of the South, and was a proud member of the Business and Professional Women’s Club for many years. Barsha lived a happy life and deeply loved her family. She enjoyed caring for her geraniums, shopping, reading, cooking, and was an accomplished musician. She is preceded in death by parents, Lawrence and Mable (Childress) Rouse, brother, Dr. James Mitchell Rouse, MD, grandmother, Myrtle Childress, grandfather, Herbert Childress, and several special aunts and uncles, and other family members.
She is survived by her daughter, Pamela Lynn Brice (David); son, John Lawrence Ammons (Erica); grandchildren, William Connor Brice, Jarrett Hunter Brice, James Parker Ammons, and Seth Walker Ammons; great-grandchildren, Kinsley Brice, Kadence Brice, and Jace Walker Ammons; sister-in-law, Marilyn Rouse; nieces, Ellen Werner (John); nephews, Scott Rouse (Amber), and Mitchell Rouse; great-niece and great-nephew, Tennessee Louise and Strummer Rouse; very special cousin, Janice Tibbals Mobley; and devoted caregiver, Kristy Brooks.
The family will receive friends on Friday, September 19, 2025 from 12:00 – 2:00 PM at Walters Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM with Rev. Doug Clem officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.
