Tennessee is reporting some of the highest number of flu cases in the country

CAMPBELL COUNTY, TN. (WLAF)- Flu season is here, and Tennessee is reporting some of the highest number of cases in the country. There are ways to lessen the chances of contracting the flu and methods of coping with the virus if it hits.
Prevention
Keeping a healthy immune system is key to staving off illnesses. Wash your hands and take Vitamin C, according to Raewyn Snodderly of Terry’s Pharmacy. “The less prepared your body is the more likely you are to get it,” according to Timmy Zupancic of Refuel IV. He recommends eating right, getting outside and making sure the immune system is healthy. Visiting Refuel IV for a Trimune infusion can also help. This formula is packed with powerful immune system protectors. Anyone who is around children, traveling or attending large events can benefit from this, he said. Utilizing a day pass in the Recovery Suite can also help. The sauna and cold plunge can assist in detoxifying the system.
Managing Symptoms
Isolate yourself if you become ill, Snodderly said. Hydrate, take acetaminophen and ibuprofen in rotation and sleeping propped up are also ways to manage symptoms, she said. Getting moving as much as possible will also help, she said. Flu symptoms can last up to seven days but some people are still having symptoms for as long as six weeks out, she said. Refuel IV can also help if the flu hits, Zupancic said. “A bag of fluids is what you need,” he said of having the flu. While appointments are available, walk ins are also welcome.
