In conjunction with the 2025 Louie Bluie Music and Arts Festival

LAFOLLETTE, TN (SPECIAL TO WLAF)- Lou Ellison won the “Best of Quilts” award and a $100 prize for her quilt, “Baby Bows,” which was custom-quilted by Cheryl LaBagh of Jacksboro. Lou intends to give this quilt to a great-grandchild on the way. She also won the “Best of Quilts” award in 2023.
“There is a fantastic quilting tradition in East Tennessee, and it was delightful to see so many beautiful entries” said experienced quilt show judge Mary Dacres of Cincinnati, Ohio. She used a standard quilt show scoring rubric to judge each quilt for visual impact, design and construction.

A total of 54 quilts were evaluated across several categories representing a wide variety of quilting techniques, and 18 ribbons were awarded. The 54 quilts plus seven from the 1900s were on display at the Cove Lake State Park Pavilion during the Louie Bluie Festival. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-09/23/2025-6AM-PHOTOS SUBMITTED)
