LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – La Follette K-9 Patrolman Zack Daugherty saw a silver Honda Accord leave Murphy Gas Station on Fri., Dec. 1, around 2 am, and as he did, he noticed the car’s windows had what appeared to be darker than the legal limit of window tint.

Daugherty initiated his emergency lights for the Honda to stop, but it continued at a slow pace veering toward the right side of the highway before coming to a final stop in the 100 block of Memorial Lane. Daugherty spoke with the driver of the vehicle and a front seat passenger identified as Tommy Andrew Steakley.

Officer Daugherty confirmed via a window tint comparison card that the window tint was darker than the legal limit. Another officer on the scene made Daugherty aware of what appeared to be Methamphetamine on the top of the passenger side windowsill. Daugherty went to the passenger side and confirmed that there was a clear crystal substance on the windowsill and saw that there was a trail of the substance on the roadway as well as a large bag containing the same substance on the roadway in the direct path that the vehicle traveled on the passenger side of the vehicle.

Steakley, 46, 601 S Sudenny Lane, LaFollette, was charged with felony possession of schedule II, drug free school zone and tampering with or fabricating evidence. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 12/18/2023-6AM)
