LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- Educators make a difference in students’ lives every day. For many students, having a school employee who cares and goes that extra mile can be the difference in a successful education and graduation. We’ve all had that teacher, or school employee who inspired us or helped in some way. That’s why WLAF and Eagle Tire Pros salute all of our hardworking educators with a weekly feature.
Alisha Lane is Eagle Tire Pros Educator of the week. She is the secretary at LaFollette Middle School. She has been in an education career for almost 20 years.

Lane said she has “always lived here in Campbell County and that she has been married for 25 years to Joey Lane.†She is a mother to six kids and has one granddaughter.
She attended school at Valley View Elementary, LaFollette Middle, and Campbell County High School.
“I began with the school system 19 years ago so I could be on the same schedule as my school age children. I fell in love with education. I did a maternity leave at LaFollette Middle School for the secretary. I fell in love with the school,†Lane said.
She was offered a position for the following year in RTI (Reading Intervention†at LaFollette Middle and I took the job.
“I worked in RTI (reading Intervention). My favorite part of reading intervention was when a student was able to overcome a reading obstacle and was able to see for themselves the progress they had made. I had interviewed at other schools for a secretary position, but LaFollette Middle stole my heart and I couldn’t leave. LMS is just different from all the other schools I have worked in. Different in a good way the staff made me feel welcome and the students were very appreciative of everything you did for them,†Lane said.
Three years ago, the secretary position opened at LaFollette Middle School, and Lane applied.
“I was blessed to get the position. It was an answered prayer. My favorite part about being the secretary is getting to greet the kids of a morning. Just hearing someone say good morning can change your whole day for the better,†Lane said.
If she’s not at LaFollette Middle or a sporting event of one of her kids, she can be found at Judy’s Grocery.

‘My Aunt and Uncle own Judy’s and I enjoy being able to go help them. I love crafting and baking or just spending time with my family,†Lane said.
The one person who has inspired her the most not only in education but in life as well is Kim McCullah-Fairchild.
“She is always so positive and has pushed me to believe in myself,†Lane said.
