JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF)- The County Commission held its workshop on Monday evening, setting the agenda for next week’s regular monthly meeting, with grant applications and contract agreements topping the list, as well as an airport change order.
Also on the agenda is a change order for the Airport Mega Project to increase the project completion period by 40 calendar days from the original 275-day completion to a revised 315-day completion period. The change order results in no additional costs to the county and is just the addition of days.
The 40-day increase in the completion period results in a revised completion date of August 11, 2025, instead of the original July 2, 2025 date.
“The completion date is the only item being changed, with the contract amount $4,200,919.75 remaining the same,” Chairman Johnny Bruce said.
Commissioner Zach Marlow asked why it had not been presented to the Airport committee for approval first. He also asked if the addition of days was because of the weather or some other reason.
“Part of it was weather days and part of it was because the project had shut down completely,” Bruce said.
Marlow said he would like a breakdown of how many of the 40 days related to weather and how many related to the project shutdown.
“We did this and said we weren’t going to approve any change orders, but I can understand it if it’s simply weather days, I can understand that,” Marlow said.
Airport Committee Chairman Scott Stanfield said it needed to be presented to the airport committee and said one would be called for Monday at 5 pm.
In other business, there will also be several Board of Education contract agreements that will be up for approval on next week’s commission agenda, as will a purchase and subscription services agreement between Raptor Technologies and Campbell County BOE.
Also on the agenda will be an Airport Maintenance grant, as well as authorization for EMS Director Bruce Perkins to apply for a $25,000 grant that requires no matching funds from the county if it is received.
Commissioners will also vote on the trade of a 2020 Dodge Durango from the property assessor’s office to the sheriff’s department and a 2017 Jeep Renegade from the sheriff’s department to the property assessor’s office. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-10/15/2025-6AM)
