JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF)- It’s back to basketball action tonight at Karns as the Beavers host the Campbell County Cougars and Lady Cougars in a couple of key District 3-AAAA contests. For the Cougars, this game continues a string of four road games over a six day span as Campbell lost a 56-54 heartbreaker Monday night at Loudon. Loudon outlasted the Lady Cougars 47-43 to win in overtime last night with the Karns game being their second game of what will be three road games in five days this week.
Both games at Loudon were back and forth with the Loudon catching the Lady Cougars at 35 to end the game forcing overtime. Loudon outscored Campbell 12 to 8 to claim the 47-43 win. Preslee Chapman was tops with 11 points while Reagan Davis and Addy Coleman chipped in 10 points each. Six points a piece came from Taraji Abernathy and Kaylee Albright.
The Cougars designed a play to go the length of the court with 4.5 second to play in the game and executed the play just right getting a three point shot launched in time, but the shot missed. Loudon clung to its two point lead and won 56 to 54. Jake Hatmaker led all scorers with 19 points followed by a dozen from Koalton Cupp. Caden Heatherly added eight with seven points coming from Jack Sexton. Will Croley tallied four while Sam Sexton had three with one point coming from Hunter Dotson.
Back on Tuesday, December 9, the Lady Cougars defeated Karns 60 to 32 while Karns held on for a 66-62 victory over the Cougars at Brown Gym.
The Lady Cougars are 8 & 7 in all games and 4 & 1 in District 3-AAAA games. Overall, the Cougars are 4 & 14 and winless through five district outings.
Karns Lady Beavers have won one game out of 16 to go along with a 1 & 5 mark in the district. The Karns Beavers are 9 & 7 so far on the season and sport a 3 & 3 district record.
