Bob Walden, Air Force, presents WLAF’s Big Josh Etter, Army, with a special T-shirt

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – “It’s the least I can do. It’s worth giving a little something back,” said Bob Walden, a 20-year U.S. Air Force veteran. He’s talking about the T-shirts he’s given to veterans over the past couple of years. The latest shirt was presented in person Monday morning to WLAF’s Big Josh Etter.

The shirts Walden presents now no longer have a pocket on them.
Walden and his wife Virgie are faithful WLAF listeners, and when Bob realized here a while back that Big Josh was also a veteran, he wanted to honor him with a shirt. So as soon as Big Josh closed out the Trading Post Monday, Bob surprised him with a green Army T-shirt in the WLAF lobby

Walden holds the 2X he’s about to hand to Etter once Etter signs off the air on Monday.
“I started giving these shirts to veterans at my church and to members of the Honor Guard, and it grew from there,” said Walden whose brother served in the Marines. He’s given away around 50 since 2022, and the folks at Byrge Screen Printing have helped. “I order one or two at a time, and they’re very accommodating,” said Walden.
