La Follette Police place man under arrest late Thursday afternoon on meth charges
LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- A La Follette man stopped to give two people a ride, and minutes later a police officer was giving him a ride; a ride to the county jail.

Around 5pm Thursday, James Letner stopped on South Avenue, near Canyon Lane, and picked up a man and a woman, based on a La Follette Police report. LPD Narcotic Detective Noah Riggs witnessed the gesture Letner extended. The report details that the officer also saw that the couple did not buckle up as the car traveled approximately two city blocks before Officer Riggs made a traffic stop,
LPD Officer Robert Cobb and K-9 Goose arrived on the scene, and K-9 Goose had a positive alert after performing a free air sniff around the car.
Officers allegedly recovered a black zip container at the center console of the car. The container held two glass pipes with burn marks on them along with a small baggie containing a crystal-like substance weighing approximately .25 grams, according to the police report. The report also outlines that officers recovered two yellow rope tourniquets and multiple cotton filters.
Narcotic Detective Riggs read the trio their Miranda warning and asked who the crystal-like substance belonged to. All three stated that it did not belong to them.
Letner, 44, of 611 Cherry Street, La Follette, was placed into custody and transported to the Campbell County Jail. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-08/25/2025-6AM)
