This accident occurred Monday afternoon just after 5:30 pm. in front of the former Fazoli’s.

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – Preliminary information regarding Monday’s wreck with injury has been released by the Tennessee Highway Patrol. .

Trooper Jacob Clabough said 51-year old Lawrence Henry of Pioneer was traveling south on Highway 25W in a 2008 GMC Sierra. At the Dossett Lane intersection, the traffic light changed from green to red, and Henry attempted to stop his pick-up truck.

At the same time, about 5:40 pm, Donna Morris, 69, La Follette had the green light, leaving the Big Lots shopping center lane, and proceeded through the intersection. She and her 2007 Toyota Camry were struck on the driver’s side by the GMC, according to the trooper’s report.

Both vehicles came to an uncontrolled final rest in the middle of the intersection.

    On a side note, I have a years long habit of watching dash cam accident videos from around the world almost daily. I have not done a statistical analysis, but it is glaringly obvious from among the available US samples that intersections with traffic control lights have a large share of US traffic accidents, if not a majority of them. Other places it’s just intersections in general. Stay alert, head on a swivel, eyeball everything, take nothing for granted.

    I always tell my wife when she drives to drive safe and – beware of the other guy, “They’re all crazy, they’re all suicidal, they all want to take you with them.” Not true by a long shot, but a good attitude to have behind the wheel.
