Blaze, Kia come home with ribbons from horse competition

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- Over the years, WLAF has caught up with Blaze. Blaze was a one time star of the rope and barrel race circuit before coming to Joshua Goins Back Valley Road farm in November 2023. On Saturday, Blaze and another horse, Kia, on Goins farm, brought home ribbons after a competition.

At the East Tennessee Riding Club at Oak Ridge, Blaze (above) won three second place ribbons. In the bill payers/old timers class, he was judged on his walk and gait. Blaze also pulled second place in barrel racing. Goins daughter Judy rode Blaze to his final second place ribbon, the pick-up race class. “Blaze stole the show,” said Goins.

Blaze’s other companion, Kia, won a fourth place award in ranch halter class. Both horses are 22 years old. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-08/18/2026-6AM)
