Tonya Bruce is Eagle Tire Pros Educator of the Week

JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF)- Educators make a difference in students’ lives every day. For many students, having a school employee who cares and goes that extra mile can be the difference in a successful education and graduation. We’ve all had that teacher, or school employee who inspired us or helped in some way. That’s why WLAF and Eagle Tire Pros salute all of our hardworking educators with a weekly feature.

 Tonya Bruce is Eagle Tire Pros Educator of the Week. She is special education assistant at Jacksboro Elementary School.

She lives in Jacksboro with her husband, Tommy, and they have lived there for 25 years.

They have “been blessed with three wonderful children. Tristan is a senior, and Bryson and Addison are freshmen.” All three attend Campbell County High School.

She and her family attend Round Rock Baptist Church at Stony Fork, where Bruce has the “privilege of teaching Sunday school.”

“My faith in Jesus is the foundation of my life, and I am grateful for the opportunity to serve Him through my church, my family, and my work with children. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family and my church family, making memories together,” Bruce said.

Bruce grew up in the Stony Fork community, where she graduated in 2000 from Stony Fork School, a former small K–12 school.

“My favorite teacher was my kindergarten teacher, Mary Lou Disney. She had a love for reading and made learning so much fun that I still remember her influence today. She has since retired and continues to live in the Stony Fork community,” Bruce said.

After graduating, Bruce worked as a substitute teacher from 2000 until 2022. In 2022, she joined Jacksboro Elementary School as a Special Education Assistant.

“In this role, I have the privilege of supporting students who need a little extra help to be successful in the classroom. I feel truly blessed to help children become the best they can be each day. My favorite part of my job is seeing the excitement on their faces when they come to spend time at my table. I want every child who sits with me to feel seen, heard, and loved because I truly believe every child is a gift.”
