CAMPBELL COUNTY, TN (SPECIAL TO WLAF)- As Campbell County prepares to head to the polls today, it’s worth pausing to recognize something important: every candidate who steps forward to serve deserves our respect. Public service is not easy, and those who offer themselves to the community should be applauded for their willingness to lead.
With that said, I want to share my personal perspective — shaped by four years of direct interaction with Mayor Jack Lynch and the team he has assembled — on why I believe Campbell County is stronger today because of his leadership, and why his reelection would continue that momentum.
A Steady, Effective Leader Focused on Real Results
Over the past four years, I’ve had the opportunity to work with Mayor Lynch and see firsthand how he approaches challenges: quietly, diligently, and with a laser focus on outcomes that benefit Campbell County residents. He doesn’t seek the spotlight. He simply does the work.
And the work has been substantial.
Protecting and Expanding Local Jobs
One of the most significant accomplishments came when George’s Food closed its operations. Instead of accepting the loss of 160 jobs, Jack Lynch coordinated recruitment efforts and worked directly with executives at Gold Creek Foods. His leadership helped secure ongoing employment for those workers — and as production needs grew, Gold Creek expanded its workforce even further.
His efforts didn’t stop there. Jack helped Gold Creek obtain state grant funding tied to capital investment and job creation. He also led the successful push for a Payment in Lieu of Tax (PILOT) program, giving Campbell County a modern economic development tool that neighboring counties had used for years. This single step strengthened our ability to recruit and retain industry.
Supporting United Rare Earths and High‑Tech Growth
Jack has worked tirelessly with United Rare Earths as they advance their complex plan to build a battery recycling and rare earth refinery facility here. This project required coordination with state and federal officials — and Jack stepped up.
He even represented Campbell County in meetings with U.S. State Department officials in Washington, discussing funding opportunities connected to securing rare earth mining operations in East Africa. That’s the kind of forward‑looking leadership that positions Campbell County for long‑term economic relevance.
Securing Land and Infrastructure for Future Industry
Under Jack’s leadership, the Industrial Development Board obtained 232 acres of property valued at $3 million — for just ten dollars. That remarkable private/public agreement gives Campbell County a major asset for future industrial growth.
Jack then led the effort to pursue a $35 million federal grant from the Economic Development Agency to build the infrastructure needed to make that land ready for industrial development.
These are not small wins. They are generational.
Supporting Local Businesses and Expanding Employment
Jack also implemented a hands‑on policy of visiting local business owners to gather input and offer support — a strategy strengthened by Deputy Mayor Randy Brown’s 30 years of workforce development experience.
The results speak for themselves:
State statistics show 160 more Campbell Countians are employed today than when Jack Lynch took office.
A Champion for Veterans, Seniors, and Families in Need
Everyone in Campbell County knows Jack’s heart for veterans and senior citizens. He has consistently supported programs that honor their service and meet their needs.
He has also coordinated fundraising efforts for local food banks, ensuring families facing hardship have access to essential resources.
And again — he does all of this without seeking recognition. He simply serves.
A Quiet, Steady Hand That Campbell County Can Trust
Jack Lynch doesn’t chase headlines. He doesn’t make noise. He works — effectively, consistently, and with genuine care for the people of Campbell County.
Today, I ask you to consider these accomplishments and the positive direction our county is heading. For four years, Jack Lynch has served you tirelessly. Give him the opportunity to continue that work.
