“Mark had been educating citizens for more than two decades. He is a leading advocate of the preservation and promotion of the rich heritage of Jellico,” said County Mayor Jack Lynch.

“I really enjoy my job and learning right along with everyone else,” Tidwell said.

He said his standard disclaimer in life is that “every other word has been the truth,” Tidwell said.

Next recognized was the Campbell County Health Department and staff.

“You all provide a service you can’t get anywhere else,” said County Mayor Jack Lynch said.

This recognition was part of the Campbell County First Service Above Politics initiative.

“The health department ensures health access to all in Campbell County. We applaud the hardworking staff of Health Department staff and volunteers,” County Mayor Lynch said.

Commissioner Rusty Orick said the staff “went above and beyond and that he was proud as a commissioner to support the health department.”

Health Department Director Charles Turner (above) thanked the commission for the honor and for their support in the recent renovation of the health department.

Next recognized were the county libraries and librarians.

“Our libraries are such an important part of the community, a place for our children, a place for adults and the elderly.  They all have amazing programs going on and libraries are what make children strong and that makes families strong,” said Mayor Lynch.

He said “libraries have long served as essential pillars of our community, fostering literacy and lifelong thinking.   Libraries are safe, welcoming places.”

“The dedicated staff and volunteers of our libraries work to make sure all of our residents have the opportunity to learn and grow. We encourage all residents to engage with their local libraries,” Lynch said. The librarians received a standing ovation.

“LaFollette Librarian Nancy Green said libraries are very important to the community.

“A lot of people think libraries are dying, but they are not, just last Thursday we had 157 customers in there. We are so happy to serve everyone,” Green said. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-06/16/2026-6AM)
