Semiquincentennial celebration is July 4 at Cove Lake State Park

CAMPBELL COUNTY, TN (SPECIAL TO WLAF)- Happy Birthday, America! The USA turns 250 years old this year.

You are invited to join the celebration on Saturday, July 4, from 1pm until 7pm, at the Cove Lake State Park at Caryville. The celebration begins with a parade from Jacksboro to the park.

“This is a once in a lifetime celebratory event. It’s the semiquincentennial (250th), the Veterans 4th and Norris Highlands Expo,” said Bill Claiborne, member of the Campbell County Historical Society Board .

It’s presented by the Campbell County Historical Society in conjunction with the Campbell County Commission. There’ll be food and live music. “There’ll even be a Loretta Lynn tribute,” said Claiborne. Patriotic displays and craft vendors will also highlight the day. There’ll also be an exhibit of the new Norris Highlands Freedom Trail, according to Claiborne. Look for attractions from all around the surrounding counties.

“It’s time to honor America and those who fought to protect her,” said Claiborne.
