Over the last four years, the Lions Club has donated thousands of dollars to support TCAT students

JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF)- The Tennessee College of Applied Technology (TCAT) of Jacksboro set a new record for enrollment of 724 students during its just completed spring semester. Those types of numbers make Tuesday’s $2,000 donation from the Lions Club all the more critical.
“Our first year of making a donation, four years ago, a thousand dollar donation helped outfit a welding student,” Lions Club President Bill McDonald. McDonald notes that sometimes a donation is the difference in a student staying in school or dropping out.

“The last donation from the Lions Club helped nine nursing students and two automotive students,” said TCAT President Dr. Debbie Petree. Even after helping those students, there were still some dollars left that carried over to this year, Petree pointed out.
“One year, the donation benefited a cosmetology student,” said McDonald.
“It’s amazing what these Lions Club donations can do to help a student. We’re for the partnership, because the Lions support goes above and beyond to help,” said Petree. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-05/27/2026-6AM-PHOTOS COURTESY OF WLAF’S CHARLIE HUTSON)
