Douglas shared his thoughts, patriotic music, presidential comments in his broadcast on WLAF

Clyde Douglas, right, is pictured with Buddy Hill when they were stationed in San Diego, California. Douglas and Hill served in the U-S Navy aboard the USS Samuel Gompers AD 37, a destroyer tender ship. Douglas explains that he was a fleets photographer serving for four years. “The draft was in effect, and I knew I would be drafted. However, I wanted a choice in life. So, I joined the Navy, and then I received my draft notice the next day,” said Douglas.

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- Honoring our fallen veterans, the ones who gave their lives, to give us the freedoms that we enjoy today is what Memorial Day represents. “Today’s program is a tribute those fallen veterans,” said Pastor and Veteran Clyde Douglas as he began his traditional 8am Sunday broadcast.

“As you think about the soldiers who have given their lives for the freedom we enjoy, we need to remind ourselves of some things,” said Douglas.

It is the soldier, not the minister, who has given us the freedom of religion.

It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press.

It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech.

It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to protest.

It is the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial.

It is the soldier, not the politician, who has given us the right to vote.

It is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag and whose coffin is draped by the flag. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-05/25/2026-6AM)
