Very serious accident happens near Cove Lake Park Thursday afternoon

A Campbell County Sanitation truck is one of the vehicles involved

CARYVILLE, TN (WLAF)- Just before 4:30pm Thursday, Caryville Fire and Police along with other agencies responded to the scene of a three vehicle crash on the four lane in front of the entrance to Cove Lake State Park.

Reports coming in to WLAF are that a car, an SUV and a county sanitation truck were involved. The SUV was said to have been struck in T-bone fashion.

At least one person was injured and was transported to a Knoxville hospital by Campbell EMS. A medical helicopter was not available to fly.

Traffic was slowed for quite a while in each direction, especially coming off the interstate. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-05/15/2026-6AM)
