Jimmy Carl Davis (82) of Andersonville, TN, known as “Uncle Jimmy” to most, passed away May 9, 2026 from complications related to a previously repaired aortic aneurism. He is preceded in death by George Davis (father), Flossie Davis (mother), and siblings Shirley Davis, Kathy Johnson, Betty Hernandez, Lewis Davis, Bill Davis, George Davis Jr., and Kenneth Davis. He is survived by Joan Davis, beloved wife of 60 years, sisters Susie Davis of Lafollette, TN, and Jackie Clayton of Hickson, TN. Jimmy was raised in Lake City, TN, and moved to Indiana to find work in 1963. He found work at Inland Steel, until he was drafted to serve in the US Army as a heavy equipment operator in Vietnam in 1966-1967. After his service, he returned to Inland Steel where he retired as a Foreman of loaders/cranemen in 1993. Jimmy never met a stranger, was very generous to all, and kept up with his friendships for 70+ years. He loved to mow his (and his neighbors’) grass, tell his great nephews and nieces tall tales – which they would later repeat in school, drive the kids over to Marjie’s lake looking for wild animals, cook them big-eggs and Peter Pan ham, and then “punish” them by putting them on time-out with some ice cream. No wonder they all still love and cherish him! Jimmy was a faithful member of Edgemoor Baptist Church, where a celebration of life will be held for him 5/30/26 at 11:00 AM – with lunch to follow. So for Jimmy we pray: May the road rise up to meet you, may the wind be always at your back, may the sun shine warmly on your face, and may God forever hold you in the palm of His mighty hand.
