Scammers pretend to be government employees

CAMPBELL COUNTY, TN (SPECIAL TO WLAF)- Scammers are pretending to be government employees, according to officials with the Social Security of Administration.

It’s noted that scammers may threaten you and may demand immediate payment to avoid arrest or legal action. “Do not be fooled,” said one SSA official.

If you receive a suspicious call:

1- Hang up

2- Do not give them money or personal information

3- Report the scam to oig.ssa.gov
