CARYVILLE, TN (WLAF)- Get ready to shop from an incredible selection of more than 40 local artists, crafters, bakers, and food trucks at Cove Lake State Park’s first Spring Market. Whether you’re looking for handmade treasures, home décor, Easter gifts, or Cove Lake Merch- the spring market has something for everyone.

The event is Saturday, March 21, from 12-5pm at the Recreation building located at 153 Goose Lane in Caryville.  The event has free admission and free parking. Vendors will be set up inside the building, and around it as well. Come out to shop and support local artists and crafters. There will be 40+ vendors at Cove Lake’s first Spring Craft Market, including local luthier Charlotte Underwood with CHAR’s Guitars.

CHAR’s Guitars will be set up at Saturday’s Cove Lake Spring Market from noon to 5 pm. Come check out hand-built Folk instruments made in Campbell County.

Even if you’ve never played a stringed instrument before, CHAR’s Guitars has an instrument for everyone; one string, two strings, three strings and more. Each instrument is hand crafted and unique, with no two alike. They make excellent gifts for young and old. Cigar box guitars, Appalachian picking stick dulcimers, and cookie tin banjos will be showcased at Saturday’s Craft Market.

Underwood is a self-taught luthier and has been building stringed instruments since 2018 as part of her East Tennessee heritage. During this time, she has built more than 185 instruments, many of which have been sold all across the country.

Over the past five years, Charlotte has shared music and instrument building to local elementary school students and adults alike. She also teaches Appalachian agricultural practices such as seed saving heirloom seeds to locals as well and demonstrates both traditional arts at regional festivals each year, and at the Great Smoky Mountain Heritage Center. For the past two years Joanna Underwood has been apprenticing with Charlotte and has built 40 instruments of her own, of which several will also be on sale on Saturday.

There will be lots of other great vendors to shop from, so come out to the park, grab a bite to eat and knock out your Easter and Mother’s Day shopping list all in one stop.
