NEW TAZEWELL, TN (WLAF)- The Cougars were back on the road to start week two up the valley in neighboring Claiborne County against the Bulldogs. Riley Gunter started on the hill for the Cougars, going four innings tallying 72 pitches. He had 4 strikeouts, five base on balls while giving up two hits for two runs. Eli Lawson came on in relief for the other three innings, striking out eight with three walks while surrendering one hit and two runs.
At the plate, the bats were hot one through nine with RBI leaders in the heart of the line up. Jake Lawson led the team with four RBIs, followed by Rylan Rice with three and Caden Idles had two. The Cougars spread 13 hits for 11 of their runs with multiple balls squared up in the gaps for several innings of run production.

The Cougars hope to keep their bats alive in this two game series today, Tuesday, against the Claiborne County Bulldogs. Weather permitting, first pitch is set for 5:30pm on top of Brown-Archer Field. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED 03/10/26-6AM)
