“Trey (Vann) is our leader, and our kids follow suit and play with that energy, too,” said the veteran head coach. Vann was tops for the game with 18 points followed by 14 from Jacob Bowlin, a dozen from Caleb Rose, Gavin Dabney’s 11 and 10 from Macoy Johnson. Elsewhere for the Blue Devils, Micah Shelby and Brayden Teague had eight points-a-piece while four points came from Mason Ayers and three from Seth Brandenburg.

Jellico is now 18 & 13 entering perhaps the most pressure packed game in the post season, the Region 2-A semi-finals. The winner of this game advances to the title game and automatically qualifies for the sectionals where the field is whittled down to 16 teams. “At this point, the bad teams are at the house,” said Reynolds.

The District 3-A regular season champs, the Oneida Indians, are the Tuesday night opponent for Jellico, winner of the district tourney that included a win over Oneida. This game will be played at 6pm at Harriman High School. “The Indians will be ready for the Blue Devils, but that’s fine,” said Coach Reynolds. Oneida is well coached and very talented, according to Reynolds. This will be the fourth meeting of the season as Oneida has won two, one by three points, the other by 30 points. Jellico won 62-59 on Fri., Feb. 20, in the district semi-finals, played on Nesbit Court on the Roane State campus at Harriman.
