Firefighters with Rural Fire Service, White Oak Volunteer Fire Department answered the call

UPDATE:
The investigation continues into the discovery of a body found in a camper that caught fire early Monday morning near Lick Creek Church. In a release from the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office, it is stated preliminary indications are the fire was accidental.
The joint investigation with the CCSO and TBI remains ongoing. The body was transported to the Knox County Regional Foresnic Center for examination. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-02/16/2026-1PM)
HABERSHAM, TN (WLAF)- While firefighters with the La Follette Fire Department were battling a non-injury house fire at 109 North 9th Street on Monday morning, firefighters with the Campbell County Rural Fire Service and White Oak Volunteer Fire Department were paged out to a fire in the county.
An initial report was that someone might still be in the burning camper at 5060 South Highway 25W.
Operators with Central Dispatch described the location of the fire to be near the Lick Creek Church.
A deputy with the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office was first on the scene, and it was soon learned that one person perished in the blaze.
