LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- Smoke coming from a house at 109 North 9th Street early Monday caught the attention of a La Follette Police Officer on routine patrol.

At 2:45am Monday, firefighters with the La Follette Fire Department responded.

Three units and multiple firefighters with LFD answered the fire call.

Captain Brad Young and the La Follette Fire Department “C” Shift arrived at the home a block off West Central Avenue to find heavy smoke coming from the south end of the structure. Fire hose was run up West Central along the fog line from a hydrant at the corner of North 7th Street as a La Follette Police cruiser blocked the right lane of travel to keep traffic off the hose.

Heavy smoke lifted out of the south side of the home.

The Captain noted the house also had a full size basement as heavy smoke hung in the air, because of a low, cloudy sky. Temperatures were in the low 40s.

The home was not occupied, according to Captain Young, and there were no injuries.
