A man taking down an old tree stand on his private property fell from the tree

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- A Thursday afternoon accident sent a La Follette man to a Knoxville hospital by way of a medical helicopter. It was 2:52pm when the call for help came in to Central Dispatch.
A man in his 60s fell roughly 30-feet from a tree on Cumberland Mountain. Members from the La Follette Rescue Squad and Campbell County Rural Fire Service carried the man hundreds of yards out of the woods. From there, he was loaded on the LRS’s side-by-side and driven off the mountain to the ambulance.
An ambulance with Campbell EMS met up with the med chopper in a field near the valley Dollar General Store at Calhoun Road. The chopper went airborne at 4:39pm carrying the patient said to be in serious condition.
