JACKSBORO — Noah Smith announced today that he is running for State Representative in Tennessee House District 36, launching a Republican campaign centered on conservative reform, local economic growth, and practical improvements for communities across the district.

Smith, who describes himself as an America First Conservative, an Eagle Scout, a gun owner, and an airline pilot, said he is running to restore accountability in Nashville and ensure elected officials are working for taxpayers rather than themselves. Smith, a graduate of the University of Tennessee and Campbell County High School, has been a lifelong resident of Campbell County and involved in numerous organizations in the county and across East Tennessee.
“Politicians should be working for you, not getting rich off taxpayers,” Smith said. “Together, we can bring jobs back home, strengthen our communities, and fire career politicians in Nashville.”
Smith said his campaign will focus on three core priorities. First, he is advocating for term limits and an end to what he calls a “career politician” culture in state government, arguing that Tennesseans deserve leaders who serve for a time and return home, rather than treating public office as a lifelong career.

Growing District 36’s economy will be central to his agenda. He is calling for policies that attract high-pay, high-quality jobs so families can find opportunities closer to home, without needing to commute long distances for work. “Building our local economy and bringing high paying jobs back to District 36 should be the top priority of our Representative,” Smith said. “This starts with fixing our local education systems, supporting trade and technical education, and allowing teachers to teach by stopping the deep state from indoctrinating our kids with their anti-student agenda.”
Smith said infrastructure improvements must be addressed to help the district grow and thrive. He said District 36 needs better roads and bridges, along with expanded access to essential services such as running water and high-speed internet. “From Highway 63 to Highway 33 and even to I-75, our communities know first hand how much our roads need improved. We have been left behind and failed by the State. It’s time to build high-quality, on-time road projects,” Smith said.
Smith will begin campaigning throughout District 36 in the weeks ahead, meeting with voters, listening to concerns, and sharing his plans for the district.
