KNOXVILLE, TN (WLAF)- District 3-AAAA basketball action takes place tonight at Jeff Hunter Gym at Powell High when Campbell visits Powell. As the regular season district race begins taking shape, tonight’s girls game features a match-up of the district’s only unbeaten teams.
“We’re excited to get another opportunity to represent Campbell County, and it should be a great game. Powell looks a lot like we did last few years. They have several kids that do things really well, and they have a great shooter and a really good post player. All their guards shoot well from three,” said Jason Kitts, Head Coach of the Campbell Lady Cougars.
The Lady Cougars are 7 & 5, 3 & 0 in the district, while Powell is 10 & 6 and undefeated through four district contests.
The Cougars and Panthers are looking to get back on the winning track. Campbell has dropped its last four games.
“Powell is a veteran group returning 3 or 4 starters. They are a team with length and play a physical style of man defense. Our young guys have been competitive and are eager to put it all together to get our first win in the district tonight. We know it will be a tough physical game, but we are looking forward to the challenge,” said Campbell Head Basketball Coach Ernie Clawson.
Campbell brings a 4 & 11 worksheet and 0 & 3 mark in District 3-AAAA. The Panthers are 5 & 11 with two wins through four district meetings.
