Lora York is Eagle Tire Pros Educator of the Week

JELLICO, TN (WLAF)- Educators make a difference in students’ lives every day. For many students, having a school employee who cares and goes that extra mile can be the difference in a successful education and graduation. We’ve all had that teacher, or school employee who inspired us or helped in some way. That’s why WLAF and Eagle Tire Pros salute all of our hardworking educators with a weekly feature.

Lora York is Eagle Tire Pros Educator of the Week. She is the Secretary at Jellico High School.

She is from White Oak and attended White Oak Elementary, before going on to attend Wynn High School. She has also had numerous classes at Roane State Community College and attended Tennessee School of Beauty. York has worked at Jellico High School for the past 14 to15 years as the Secretary there and she said she “loves it.”

“I have worked as a hairdresser and a bank teller. My favorite job yet is the one I have now. God only blessed me with one child. I always said if it’s meant to be God will put children in my life. I now have too many to count and love them all,” York said.

She had many inspirational educators in her own life when she was in school.

“Miss Janet Johnson inspired me the most. I took typing in high school, and she taught us much more than how to type. She has been so influential in my life,” York said.

She also said that working at Jellico High School is a blessing and that she was “honored to be nominated.”

“I love the students and watching them grow.  I absolutely love the people I work with.  We have a great staff. I thank God for this opportunity to work here. I love my job and I am so thankful to God for it. I also want to say we have teachers in this county that are amazing and deserve this more than me.”
