Ten firefighters with the aid of four units contain fire to two acres

Wind hampered firefighters in their efforts to bring an out of control brush fire under control.

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- For more than two hours on Saturday afternoon, firefighters with the Campbell County Rural Fire Service battled a wind driven brush fire. The call of an out of control brush fire on Knoxville Hollow Road came in to Central Dispatch at 2:43pm prompting 10 firefighters to respond using four units.

Four units were used by 10 CCRFS Firefighters.

Temperatures were in the 50s under a sunny sky as firefighters were up against the fire and strong wind gusts. “The wind was a problem, and it jumped our initial lines.” said CCRFS Chief Daniel Lawson.

Two structures were saved from the fire in the 900 block of Knoxville Hollow Road, near the Forks Grove Road intersection, a little more than a mile off Old Hwy 63. Firefighters contained the blaze to two acres.

Two structures were kept safe from the brush fire.

Crews cleared the scene at 5pm Saturday, and there were no injuries.

No citations were issued surrounding the brush fire.
