Monday’s special called meeting was postponed

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- In under ten minutes Monday afternoon, the LaFollette City Council held the monthly workshop with four items on the agenda.
The first item discussed was an improvement to a water tank site on Victory Road with LaFollette Utilities Board (LUB). LUB’s attorney Reid Troutman spoke to the council explaining an additional 1/3 acre of adjoining property is needed for the project. Troutman reported that he has spoken with the property owner, and it appears they are uninterested in selling any property. Troutman came before the council to make them aware the next step in trying to acquire the needed property would be condemnation. Troutman reported that he was waiting for an appraisal of the property and would make another offer before moving toward condemnation.
The next item was the announcement of the New Year’s Eve celebration on Wed., Dec. 31, beginning at 9pm behind city hall.
Two items will be on the agenda at next week’s meeting for approval. Ordinance 2026-01 abandoning a portion of West Kentucky Avenue with the corporate city limits of LaFollette. Resolution 2026-01 amending the 2025/26 budget, this resolution will include two incoming grants from the LaFollette Medical Foundation and the purchase of a garage door for the police department bay.
