Lois Jean Dykes, of Speedwell, lovingly known to all as Aunt Jean, was born on March 30, 1938, and passed peacefully from this life on Sunday, November 30, 2025. A believer in Christ, Lois lived her life with a servant’s heart, boundless generosity, and love for her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents: James Dykes and Florence Goins Dykes, her twin sister: Doris Dykes Teague, brothers-in-law: Reverand Charles “Jack” Goins and Roscoe Teague, sister-in-law: Carol Dykes, and nephew: David Dykes.

Lois is survived by:

Brothers: Kenneth Dykes, Harry “Joe” Dykes, and wife Sharron

Sisters: Barbara Dykes Goins, Linda Dykes Bullock, and husband Von

A host of nieces and nephews who cherished her deeply, as well as her faithful longtime companion and friend, her beloved dog Princess.

Lois spent many years working at the Imperial Reading Shirt Factory and later in the dietary department at LaFollette Medical Center. Known for her warm spirit and generous heart, she found great joy in cooking, especially for those she loved. Her kitchen table was a place of comfort, always open to anyone who needed a good meal, a listening ear, or the kindness she so freely offered.

Her presence was a blessing to all who knew her, and her absence will be felt deeply. Aunt Jean’s life was a testament to compassion, hospitality, and unwavering love.

Per her wishes, there will be no funeral services. The family will hold a private burial at a later date.
