LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- After five years, there is some light at the end of the tunnel for the thousands of people who travel General Carl W. Stiner Highway (SR 63).

The Tennessee Department of Transportation sign erected near the intersection of Stiner Hwy and Petrey Road, gives the completion date of Fall 2025.

This stretch of highway is looking west toward Wells Spring.

Work began on this project in November 2020 and has continued since as travelers have been looking at hundreds of those orange and white barrels stretched across Campbell and Claiborne county since the project begin.

Here’s a November 2020 view at the beginning of the construction for the project.

However, if the sign information is correct, it appears there is a lot to be done to complete this project in just the next few weeks.

As one person who travels the road daily said, “time will tell the real story.” (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-12/01/2025-6AM)
