It’s Throwback Thursday on WLAF

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- Long before this was Myers Discount House on North Tennessee Avenue, it had been the first location for Leach Theatre that opened in October 1945.

Later, in May 1951, Nolan Leach built a new movie theatre at the corner of North Tennessee Avenue and Aspen Street, where LUB is today.

After the theatre, Dr. Clyde Sharp bought the building and completely renovated it. It became the home of Pierce & Sharp Home Furnishings in 1952.

Then in 1962, it became Myers Discount House, today’s image. Myers opened a second location, Myers Army & Department Store, just a couple doors up on North Tennessee Avenue. Since then, the building has mostly been used as a restaurant. Currently, the building is vacant. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-11/27/2025-6AM)
