Chairs were slated to be taken to the garbage dump
JACKSBORO, TN. (WLAF)- The state comptroller’s office was called in to investigate 20 chairs from Campbell County High School ending up at a local restaurant. The value of the chairs was less than $500, according to Tennessee Comptroller’s Office. WLAF has learned the chairs were not intentionally given to the restaurant but picked up off a loading dock where they were slated to be taken to the garbage dump. Once reviewed, it was discovered it was 17 chairs not 20, the source said.
The chairs were property of the Campbell County High School Nutrition Department. They were mostly broken and being disposed of, because they were unusable. Corrective action has been taken that includes a tracking system for surplus items that includes their final destination, the source said. No personnel were disciplined in this matter.
