Highway 116 was shutdown for more than an hour Tuesday morning

RIDGEWOOD, TN (WLAF)- On a bitterly cold Tuesday morning, a smaller Chevrolet pick-up truck left Highway 116 striking a power pole just before 8am, according to an official on the scene. It was said the truck was heading toward Caryville.
The accident occurred in the 1600 block of Highway 116 just north of the Ridgewood Volunteer Fire Station. As a result, Highway 116 was shutdown for more than an hour.

The lone occupant, a male driver, was entrapped and had to be extricated. He was then transported by Campbell EMS to the ball field, the George Templin Memorial Field, at Rocky Top and then airlifted by a medical helicopter to a Knoxville hospital.

“We had mutual aid from the La Follette Rescue Squad, the Caryville Volunteer Fire Department, Campbell EMS and the Tennessee Highway Patrol,” said Ridgewood Volunteer Fire Department Chief Dylan Roach.

An LUB crew also responded. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-11/11/2025-11AM-PHOTOS COURTESY OF RVFD CHIEF DYLAN ROACH)
