The next meeting of the planning commission will be Wed., Nov. 19, at 6pm

JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF)- Thursday night the Jacksboro Board of Mayor and Aldermen met for the regular monthly meeting. The meeting room was packed with unhappy residents.

Attendees were present to express concerns about Perkins Hills Phase III, a development in the Mt. Perkins subdivision. Those in attendance expressed concerns about the potential for increased flooding in the neighborhood due to the new development.

Residents appeared to be outraged that the planning commission had approved the development back in July. Originally the area was approved for three lots but the planning commission changed it to five lots. One resident alleged that the business doing the grade work was not providing appropriate restroom facilities for the workers. The resident continued that she had witnessed a worker engage in indecent exposure due to the issue.

Residents expressed their displeasure about the type of homes to be put in the development. The new development is slated to have five manufactured homes that will be 1,568 sq ft. After a 45 minute discussion, it was decided that the board of mayor and aldermen would rescind approval of the development until the potential water issue could be resolved.

The next meeting of the planning commission will be Wed., Nov. 19, at 6 pm.

Other items on the agenda were a second reading of Ordinance 138, this was approved. Then the board approved funding to the fire department for First Due Software for the initial cost of $1,500 and then $500 yearly for the service.

The final item approved was the employee Christmas Bonus and longevity pay. Each full time employee will receive $300 with a $25 per year longevity bonus. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-11/10/2025-6AM)
