Zoning change will allow Indian Gap Investments to build approximately 50 units

CARYVILLE, TN (WLAF)- The Caryville Planning Commission met on Thursday afternoon for the monthly meeting with two items on the agenda.

The item that garnered the most attention on the agenda was a discussion about rezoning property on Bruce Gap Rd from R1 to R2. The change was requested by Indian Gap Investments LLC. The commission explained an R1 is considered low density which allows for a 15-18,000 square feet lot, and R2 is considered medium density and allows for a 12,000 square feet lot. The investment group wants to build a gated community with condos on the property for retirees and elderly citizens. The change would allow for 12 additional units. The commission approved the change to making the property R2, which will allow the investment group to build approximately 50 units.

The other item was a plat approval for a lot line change for property in the John McGhee Industrial Park. The commission explained this involved a strip of property about 75 feet wide. This item was approved. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-11/10/2025-6AM)
