JELLICO, TN. (WLAF)- Last month, a Jellico citizen sued the Town of Jellico. Cecil LeForce alleged the town violated the open meetings act as it planned to sell a piece of property at a reduced price. On Tuesday, the lawsuit was amended. The complaint still asks to proceed with declaring the property as surplus and to formally adopt a surplus policy.

The property, located at 1070 Creekmore Housley Drive, Jellico, had been offered to Traxion Materials for $625,000, according to the lawsuit filed. During a recent Jellico Mayor and Alderman meeting, it was disclosed the company had been communicating with board members outside the meetings about the possible transaction thus violating the Tennessee Open Meetings Act, the filing said.
