Jerry Brown was sworn in as the new LaFollette Utility Board member on Monday evening to replace John Snodderly on the board. Brown was sworn in by LUB attorney Reid Troutman.

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- The LaFollette Utility Board held its workshop and meeting on Monday evening with the 2025-2026 financial and clean audit report the main agenda topic. Board members also approved the swearing-in of a new board member, along with other business items.

Board members received a presentation of the 2025-2026 financials and clean audit report from Keith O’Connor with Pugh CPA’s. The utility received a clean audit report on both the electric and water department.

Also approved was the swearing in of new board member Jerry Brown, who replaces John Snodderly. Brown was sworn in on Monday by LUB attorney Reid Troutman.

In other business, the utility board approved opening a retainage account at Builtwell Bank for the State Route 63 Water line project. This was a state requirement for the funding, according to LUB General Manager Regina Kennedy.

Also approved was the ratification for payment of an invoice for $101,450.15 for the Dossett Lane Project.

Board members approved to accept the low bid for the Jacksboro Circuit 614 tree trimming bids. Three bids in total were received. The low bid that was accepted was from Xylem Tree Experts at $293,998.05.

A cost-of-service study by Jackson Thornton was approved. Cost of service studies are something the utility has done every three to four years. The cost-of-service study is for both the water and sewer departments. These studies are done to make the rates charged are in line with the costs and expenses of the utility.
