K-9 Goose assists Officers Joe Hicks and Robert Cobb

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- It was late Tuesday afternoon when La Follette Police Officer Joe Hicks spotted a silver car with non-transparent window tint as it traveled east on Central Avenue.

The observation prompted Officer Hicks to make a traffic stop on the 2010 Mazda M6. Hicks was able to identify the driver and his passenger, Danielle Mason. Hicks had prior knowledge that the driver of the car was possibly selling Methamphetamine. Though that ended up not being the case.

Officer Hicks’ called on Officer Robert Cobb and K-9 Goose to assist in the traffic stop. Officer Cobb asked Mason and the driver if there was anything in the car K-9 Goose would find, and the driver produced two hypodermic syringes.

As K-9 Goose was deployed on the Mazda, Mason allegedly stated that she did have one suboxone in her purse. Cobb searched the trunk of the car and found the purse along with a green container with the words “DOPE” written on the lid. Officer Cobb located two small baggies that contained a crystal-like substance, two straws with white residue and one suboxone film, according to the police report.

K-9 Goose was re-deployed inside the car and alerted to a McDonald’s bag in the back floorboard. Inside the bag, Cobb found a glass pipe containing white residue, based on the report from La Follette Police.

Officer Cobb asked Mason and the driver who owned the drugs, and Mason allegedly stated that the drugs were hers, according to the police report.
