JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF)- Educators make a difference in students’ lives every day. For many students, having a school employee who cares and goes that extra mile can be the difference in a successful education and graduation. We’ve all had that teacher, or school employee who inspired us or helped in some way. That’s why WLAF and Eagle Tire Pros salute all of our hardworking educators with a weekly feature.

Will Van Etten is Eagle Tire Pros Educator of the Week. He teaches Algebra 2 at Campbell County High School.

Van Etten is from Jacksboro and attended Jacksboro Elementary and Jacksboro Middle Schools. He graduated from Anderson County High School in 2007.

Van Etten then attended college at East Tennessee State University and earned his bachelor’s degree. He obtained his teaching licensure through Tennessee Tech.

Van Etten in his 14th year as an educator and said he enjoys teaching Algebra 2 at CCHS. 

“As far as teachers who motivated me it would have been Andrea Russell. She really pushed me to do more,” Van Etten said. Russell was a CCHS graduate who taught in Anderson County, Van Etten said.

His favorite part of his job is “seeing the light bulb come on when a student grasps a difficult concept.”

Another favorite is where he works, along with his coworkers. 

“I enjoy interacting and working with the team I have at CCHS. I work with great people.”
