La Follette Councilman Mark Hoskins made the motion

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- On Tuesday afternoon, the LaFollette City Council worked through the monthly agenda in about 15 minutes. Councilman Mark Hoskins made a motion to appoint Jerry Brown to the LaFollette Utility Board, the motion was approved.
The council approved repairs to the concrete area in front of the fire and police department, the cost of the repairs will be $25,000.
A new town clock will be placed on East Central Avenue at Freeman Corner in the near future. The council approved purchasing the clock from Verdin Clock Company in the amount of $27,701. Purchasing an asphalt hot box for the public works department from CMI Equipment Sales in the amount of $45,675 was approved.
Four promotions were approved beginning with Austin Sands to a full time firefighter, then Isiah Heid to a full-time firefighter, next was promoting Claude Steven Wilson to a full-time patrolman and Clinton Hutchinson to a full-time patrolman. All promotions will be effective Oct. 18.
The council approved the fire department to solicit bids for a heart monitor. The cost of the monitor will be covered by a grant the fire department recently received from the LaFollette Medical Foundation.
Recently the council approved purchasing a new vehicle for the city administrator, yesterday afternoon the council approved declaring the administrator’s old vehicle as surplus. Also approved was for the police department to sell forfeited/seized vehicles.
