Late Friday afternoon wreck temporarily closed Cedar Creek Road and Bridge

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- The Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal traffic accident that happened off Cedar Creek Road a little after 5pm Friday. The THP has released its preliminary report

The initial call came in at 5:24pm to Central Dispatch that a pick-up truck wrecked off Cedar Creek Road near the Cedar Creek Bridge over Norris Lake.

A gold Ford F-350 truck left the roadway just above the free launch before Cedar Creek Bridge, and it went over an embankment striking trees, according to officials.

In the THP report, it is detailed that a 2002 Ford F-350, driven by 65-year old Charles Parrott, was traveling west on Cedar Creek Road near Mariner Point Road. Parrott, the lone occupant, not wearing a seat belt, failed to maintain his lane of travel and crossed over into the oncoming east bound lane and then left the roadway on the left hand side, striking a tree before coming to a uncontrolled final rest.

First responders with the Campbell County EMS declared Parrott dead on arrival, based on one officials account.

Members of the Campbell County Rural Fire Service responded and extricated the victim from the wreckage.

The La Follette Rescue Squad and Campbell County Sheriff’s Office also responded. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-07/25/2025-9PM-UPDATED-07/26/2025-5AM)
