‘It’s the foundation of the program’- Campbell Head Coach Taylor Ownbey

JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – Having been more than a year in the making, the overhaul of the Campbell County High School weight room is finished.

When the Cougars head to lift weights during practice days, there will be no more walks down The Hill to John Brown Gym, the housing of the previous makeshift weight room.

The makeshift weight room was located atop the second deck at Brown gym

Instead, the Orange-and-Blue have a new, improved, and sleek weight room to use adjacent to their locker room.

This is the brand new weight room in the fieldhouse at John T. Reynolds Field.

With the addition of two garage doors facing L. Hope Dossett Stadium, and another on the side of the building, the weight room is convenient to get in/out, and extremely well-lit and open.

“It’s the foundation of the program,” said Cougar football coach Taylor Ownbey. “Any program that wins a lot has to have a good weight room. It’s the key factor.”

“Other than the dumbbells, and some more plates that haven’t come in yet, the weight room is completed and looks really really good,” said Director of Football Operations Dewayne Kitts.

Now that the renovation process is finally complete, the Cougars can work out to their full potential to gear up for the first game of the season on August 22nd at Lenoir City.

  1. I don’t see any cable machines. THAT’S GOOD!
Lifting and pushing real iron will prevent and reduce the severity of injuries.
    Good call Campbell County.
