JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF)-The County Commission met Monday evening, setting the agenda for next week’s meeting. This will include a resolution establishing guidelines for strategic planning for the county, along with several grant applications, among other business items, including an East Tennessee Human Resource Agency contract with Campbell County. A grant contract between the state of Tennessee and the Campbell County Department of Health will also be voted on.
Also on next week’s agenda is an EKOS license agreement for a new fuel system for the county’s highway department.
An airport change order of $5,000 will be on the agenda for approval.
According to Commissioner Scott Stanfield the $5,000 change order is at no cost to the county.
“It was taken from another line item, from the engineering firm to pay Hatmakers. We had extra trees that needed cleared,” Stanfield said, explaining the “only reason it had to come under a change order is in case the county is ever audited, it verifies everything.”
Also, up for approval next Monday is the third and final evaluation of Commission Assistant Tabitha Davis.
Commissioners will also vote on raising the pay for planning commission members from $50 a meeting to $75 a meeting, with the chairman and secretary receiving $100 for their “extra running around.”
County Mayor Jack Lynch said it had been cleared with finance.
“The Planning commission people travel, some of them from Jellico, so I want to suggest we raise it,” Lynch said.
Also on next week’s agenda will be the application for three grants for the sheriff’s department. These include a Mental Health Transport grant, a School Resources Officer grant, and an Equipment grant for jail equipment. The equipment grant would be $15,000 and it is a “reimbursement grant” where if received, the county would have to spend the money and would then be reimbursed by the state.
